Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Google+ Share on Pinterest Share on Linkedin Shiromani Akali Dal’s Newly Appointed District President Parvinder Singh Sohana Felicitated Dalit Chetna Manch Organizes Felicitation Ceremony, Organization Will Play a Key Role in Forming Akali Dal Government: Purkhalvi Mohali’s Basic Infrastructure Developed During Akali Rule, ₹2500 Crores Were Spent: Sohana Nabaz-e-Punjab, Mohali, 11 July 2025: A prominent felicitation ceremony was organized today at Hotel Majestic, Phase 9, by Dalit Chetna Manch Punjab, an organization actively working in the field of social service, to honour Parvinder Singh Sohana, the newly elected district president (Mohali) of the Shiromani Akali Dal. During the event, Parvinder Singh Sohana was honoured with a Sri Sahib and a Siropa. In his address, Jathedar Parvinder Singh Sohana praised the far-sighted vision of Shiromani Akali Dal president Sukhbir Singh Badal, saying that under his leadership, significant work had been done in the fields of education, health, sports, and infrastructure development in Punjab. He said, “The Akali government implemented several schemes for the Dalit community that strengthened them economically and socially, but the present government has discontinued these initiatives, thus betraying the poor.” Parvinder Singh Sohana stated that not just in Punjab but especially in Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar (Mohali), a total of ₹2500 crore was spent during the Akali regime for infrastructure development. During this period, Mohali’s shopping street was widened into a double road, eight sports stadiums were built, the district complex was constructed, meritorious school, Maharaja Ranjit Singh Academy, and Mai Bhago Academy were established. Additionally, the Fateh Minar was erected at Chapparchiri in the memory of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Ji. He said that 90% of Punjab’s development took place under Akali rule, and the successive governments have failed even to maintain that development. He dedicated his new responsibility and the honour received from Dalit Chetna Manch to the people of the region. Addressing the large gathering at the event, Dalit Chetna Manch’s state president Shamsher Purkhalvi said, “Our organization has been consistently working for the welfare of the Dalit community for the past 28 years. We are closely observing the political scenario and will make every effort to bring a change in government in the upcoming assembly elections.” He blamed the anti-Dalit mindset and negligence by political parties for the current condition, saying that the community still has to run around police stations and government offices for justice. On this occasion, notable personalities including Dr. Harpreet Singh, former director Daljit Singh Gill, former deputy director Hari Singh, writer Babu Ram Diwana, former ETO Nirmal Singh, Rajinder Singh Sidhu, Consumer Forum president Pavittar Singh Virdi, Phase 4 Welfare Association president H.S. Kamal, Sector 89 RWA president Ajit Singh, Guru Ravidass Youth Sabha Mohali president Bishan Das Swain, Baljinder Kaur Dhillon, Karan Johar, Dr. Ashwani Bhatia, Darshan Singh Jolly, and many other dignitaries were present. During the ceremony, the distinguished attendees congratulated Parvinder Singh Sohana and assured their full support in the upcoming elections.
