Under the ongoing efforts of Shiromani Akali Dal to strengthen the party’s organizational structure, a district delegates’ meeting was held today at Gurdwara Amb Sahib. The meeting, led by constituency in-charge Jathedar Parvinder Singh Sohana, was attended by core committee member and former MLA N.K. Sharma, district observer Bibi Kuldeep Kaur Kang, along with several senior leaders.
During the meeting, it was agreed to hand over the full authority regarding the appointment of office-bearers to party president Sardar Sukhbir Singh Badal, which was welcomed by the workers with slogans. On this occasion, Jathedar Sohana said that workers who work with dedication for the party will be given responsibilities.
Later, while speaking to the media, former MLA N.K. Sharma targeted the current Punjab government. He said that this government is strangling every section instead of providing people with basic facilities. During the Badal government, many welfare schemes were implemented for every section, whereas today’s government is looting the rights of the people.
On the issue of land pooling, he reiterated that the Badal government had given commercial and residential plots to farmers at five times the market price, while the present government, under the garb of the same scheme, is seizing the farmers’ lands. He warned that this coercion will not be tolerated at any cost and that the party will start a phased struggle against it from 15 July from Ludhiana.
