DC Reviewed the situation of villages along the Ghaggar River

Embankments Intact, Water Levels Begin to Recede

Nabaz-e-Punjab, Mohali, September 03:
Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal today visited vulnerable points along the Ghaggar River to assess the situation and issued necessary directions to the concerned departments. At Bhankharpur, the Deputy Commissioner directed the Drainage Department to immediately strengthen the weak point on the embankment. She emphasized that the district administration is continuously monitoring the situation and taking timely preventive action.
She then inspected the Tiwana Embankment on the Ghaggar River, which was found intact. Villagers requested strengthening with boulders, and the Deputy Commissioner assured them that the work would be undertaken after the rains. Administrative teams are actively monitoring the situation with the requisite machinery in place to handle any emergency.
Additionally, DC Komal Mittal interacted with the Sarpanch of Khajur Mandi and directed SDM Derabassi to ensure the immediate supply of ration and drinking water to residents as required.

She was accompanied by SDM Derabassi Amit Gupta, Tehsildar Derabassi Sumeet Singh Dhillon, ExEn Drainage Khushwinder Singh, and SDO Drainage Rajinder Singh.
The Deputy Commissioner also informed that the water level in the Ghaggar, which had risen earlier, began receding by evening. The situation continues to be closely monitored by the administration.
