Plan to plant 1100 fruit-bearing and flowering saplings in Mohali constituency with public support: Sohana

Nabaz-e-Punjab, Mohali, 8 July 2025:
To combat the environmental crisis and rising pollution, Shiromani Akali Dal has launched a tree plantation campaign. Under this, saplings were planted in village Mankmajra of Mohali under the campaign “Plant Trees – Save the Future,” led by District Jathedar Parvinder Singh Sohana.
On this occasion, Parvinder Singh Sohana said, “To curb the danger caused by the continuous cutting of trees and increasing pollution, we are going to plant 1100 fruit-bearing and flowering saplings in various areas of the constituency with the support of the people.”
Jathedar Sohana stated that this campaign is being carried out entirely in commitment to Shiromani Akali Dal and in compliance with the orders of Sri Akal Takht Sahib. He said, “On 2 December 2024, the party received instructions from Sri Akal Takht Sahib to plant 1,25,000 new trees. In accordance with this, the campaign was officially launched by the party’s secretary Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema on 27 June at the party headquarters.”
Jathedar Sohana also assured that the planted saplings will be taken care of continuously for the next two years so that this action does not remain merely a formal initiative. He said, “This campaign should not be mere formality, rather, the trees will be cared for until they are fully grown.”
