Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Google+ Share on Pinterest Share on Linkedin MLA Kulwant Singh started Repair Work of Chapparchiri and Others Link Roads Nabaz-e-Punjab, Mohali, October 1: MLA SAS Nagar, Kulwant Singh, on Wednesday inaugurated the repair and upgradation work of two important roads-Chapparchiri Kalan to Chapparchiri Khurd Road and Kharar Banur Road to Tangauri-Kurara-Barri Road, in his constituency. He said that in the first phase, repair and strengthening of 14 major roads requiring urgent attention has been approved at a cost of Rs 10 crore, out of which work on two roads has commenced today. The first project pertains to the Kharar Banur Road to Tangauri-Kurara-Bari Road, covering a total length of 5.57 km with a width of 18 feet. The last repair on this stretch was carried out in October 2016. Now, the road is being constructed at a cost of Rs 2.06 crore, with an additional provision of Rs 27 lakh for its five-year maintenance. Of this, 1 km will be constructed with 80 MM paver blocks, while the remaining stretch will be rebuilt in bituminous surface. The project, allotted to York Builders Pvt. Ltd., Zirakpur, will be completed within six months. The second project is the Chapparchiri Kalan to Chapparchiri Khurd Road, with a length of 2.05 km. Earlier 18 feet wide, the road has now been widened to 22 feet. Last repaired in March 2018, it is being reconstructed at a cost of Rs 3.70 crore. This entire road will be built using 80 MM paver blocks, with the work to be completed in four months. The construction has been awarded to Shri Ganesh Construction, Moga. MLA Kulwant Singh in his address said, “Good road connectivity is vital for overall development. The Punjab Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann is committed to providing better infrastructure facilities in both urban and rural belts. The start of work on these two roads is the beginning of a larger plan under which 14 major roads in the constituency will be strengthened in a phased manner.” He added that once completed, these projects will provide much-needed relief to commuters and boost connectivity in the area. Addressing the gathering of villagers, including women, he assured them that the promise of providing Rs 1100 per month to women as a token of respect will soon be rolled out by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann. He said that this will be the final poll promise to be fulfilled by the State Government, proving that every commitment made before coming to power is being honored. He also appealed to the villagers to complete any work related to road crossing or cutting before the start of construction, as damaging newly built roads later would be a huge loss to public funds.
